“Cheryl, It has been a complete pleasure working with you! Thank you for your patience and professional attitude. You are so talented. Thank you!”
Master Piece Cakes was founded in 2000 by artisan baker Cheryl Collins.
Cheryl has been creating specialty celebration cakes and gourmet cheesecakes for friends and family across Northern California wine country and the San Francisco Bay Area for more than a decade.
After taking courses at the renowned California Culinary Academy in San Francisco and the Culinary Institute of America at Greystone in Napa, Collins decided to blend her passion for baking, her talent for artistic pastry decorating and her degree in restaurant management to launch her own business – and Master Piece Cakes was born.
Since then, Cheryl’s multi-tiered, meticulously decorated cakes have won “Best of Show” medals three separate years in the Sonoma County Harvest Fair’s professionally decorated cakes competition.
Master Piece Cakes are baked from scratch, with top-grade flour, fresh butter, fresh cream cheese, locally-sourced eggs from cage-free Sonoma County hens, and all natural flavorings. Her gourmet cakes, cheesecakes, cookies and desserts taste just as good as they look.
Although specializing in receptions throughout Sonoma County’s famed wine country – Healdsburg, Sebastopol, the Russian River, Alexander Valley, Dry Creek Valley, Santa Rosa, Kenwood, Sonoma, and Petaluma – Master Piece Cakes can also deliver wedding cakes to receptions in San Francisco, Marin, Mendocino and Napa counties by special arrangement. (*Extra delivery fees may apply.)
In addition to wedding cakes, Cheryl creates custom-decorated cakes and cheesecakes for holidays and special celebrations including birthdays, bridal showers, baby showers and anniversaries.
Cheryl is just as happy to work with customers hoping to create the cake of their dreams while staying within a budget as she is to work with those clients whose dessert budgets know no bounds.
She welcomes clients who have photos and firm ideas about how they want their cakes and deserts to look. She also enjoys talking to clients about their interests or their guest-of-honor’s personality or hobbies in order to create a custom cake design that’s just right.
Whether your birthday guest-of-honor needs a cake that’s identical to a Craftsman tool box, or a green field surrounding an adorable puppy, or a stack of gift-wrapped boxes topped with edible white chocolate ribbon, Master Piece Cakes can make it. And make it delicious, as well.
Although Cheryl does in-depth quality control testing on her cakes and pastries, she balances her baking and recipe testing by regularly hitting the gym and Zumba classes as well as running in marathons, half-marathons and triathlons with her husband Bob and daughter Carolyn. She also volunteers for Paws As Loving Support’s reading dog program at schools and other venues around Sonoma County with her chocolate Labrador Retriever Coconut.
